In the latest video from Hennessey, a 1,200 hp C7 Corvette ZR1 intimidates a stock McLaren 720S.
Well, this is an unfair roll racing, if we are going, to be honest. Hennessey Performance has built a 1,200 hp package for the C7 Corvette ZR1 and the HPE1200 pack-endowed America sports car is pitted against a relatively tamer McLaren 720S in this roll racing video. Sorry, we are not giving away prizes of any kind for predicting the winner.
Hennessey ZR1 vs McLaren 720S Roll Racing
Let’s talk about the cars a bit before moving on to the footage, beginning with the fire-breathing Hennessey C7 Corvette ZR1. The HPE1200 package demands race gas and once it gets the fuel and a driver eager to see how mad things can get, the tuned sports car will unleash 1,200 hp of power and 1,066 lb-ft of torque. This thing is ridiculously quick too, covering a quarter-mile in 8.97 seconds, accompanied by a glorious soundtrack.
Hennessey has somehow managed to use a lot of original components from the factory car instead of shoving in a load of aftermarket stuff into the blender. Even the supercharger is Chevrolet material, though tweaked to contribute towards the 1,200 hp power output. A 1 Year /12,000-mile limited warranty will give owners peace of mind, in case something breaks or wears out too soon.
Hennessey HPE1200 Corvette ZR1 Test Drive
Coming to the McLaren 720S, the example featured in the video came from Freedom Supercars – the same chaps who had provided Hennessey with the Ferrari 488 GTB needed to run the drag race test against the HPE800 Cadillac Escalade. The 720S is nowhere near the HPE1200 ZR1 in terms of output numbers. The twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 produces 710 hp of power and 568 lb-ft of torque. And though it does 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds, the McLaren is no match for the sheer rawness of the Hennessey Corvette ZR1.
