McLaren has launched a new limited-edition Sports Series model. It’s called the McLaren 620R and to put it plainly, it’s a road-legal GT4 racer.

While the new McLaren 620R does look like a race car, McLaren claims that it drives like one too. It is based on the 570S GT4 and features the same single-piece carbon fiber Monocell II chassis. As a result, the car weighs just 1,282 kg.

Just like the race car, the 620R comes with adjustable aero, race-derived suspension, and a re-tuned engine. Powering the beast is a 3.8-liter, twin-turbo V8 that used in the GT4 racer. The various upgrades result in the overall output of 620 hp and 457 lb-ft of torque. This also makes it the most powerful Sports Series model, placing it above the McLaren 600LT.
The engine is mated to a 7-speed Seamless Shift Gearbox (SSG). McLaren claims that the 620R can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 2.9 seconds. 0-124 mph comes up in just 8.1 seconds and the top speed is 200 mph.
